Kaizer Chiefs have been reprimanded for their failure to make progressive signings following the transfer business that ultimately led to the arrival of Efmamjjasond Gonzalez.

Gonzalez has failed to live up to expectations at Chiefs since arriving at the beginning of the season and is on his way out at the end of the season.

The Colombian is yet to score in the 10 games that he has played since being signed from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz.

Not only has Gonzalez failed to score, he has also looked out of place in the Chiefs attack and it is no surprise he has not been used this year.

"Chiefs wasted their money on this Colombian," says the former Chiefs player speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation when asked about the 24-year-old.

Jasond Gonzalez of Kaizer Chiefs reacts in disappo

"How does a club with a profile like Chiefs go all the way to South America and bring such.

"This was a foreign spot wasted for the season plus they also wasted money on salaries, flights, and accommodation a player who brought them nothing.

"Was this guy better than all the other strikers that Chiefs decided they didn’t need any more in recent years.

"That tall Burundian striker (Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana) should have been kept if Chiefs were replacing him with such a poor striker like this South American.

"Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic were miles ahead of this guy which means Chiefs chose to go backwards instead of forward.

"With the way Chiefs went about their business in getting this big South American it leaves a lot to be desired about their scouting.

"Did they watch this guy playing before deciding to bring him on board or they were just sent a name by a friend and decided to sign?

"Whoever recommended the signing of this guy must be held accountable.

"Compared to how Sundowns are doing their recruitment of players from South America it shows that Chiefs are not doing a good job.

"Can you even compare this Colombian guy to what Sundowns is bringing in (Marcelo) Allende, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Sirino (Gaston), Junior Mendieta and this new guy (Matias Esquivel).

"Chiefs need to improve their scouting system instead of killing themselves like this and if they are honest, I hope they have learnt their lesson," details the former Chiefs player.

Efmamjjasond Gonzalez is set to be the next Colomb

For a fit striker imported all the way from South America at a fee, to be not in a team struggling for goals suggests that Gonzalez hasn’t won the confidence of Cavin Johnson.

Chiefs have opted to play Wandile Duba ahead of Gonzalez.

Gonzalez didn’t score in his last nine games at Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz where he played before joining Chiefs with his last goal coming on April 30, 2023, against Vaca Diez.

With the Colombian leaving, Chiefs will open another foreign spot.
