AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho launched a scathing attack on English referee Anthony Taylor for his performance during the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho was left fuming with the referee after AS Roma lost the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday night, with the Portuguese boss labelling the match official as a "f***ing disgrace" during a parking lot confrontation.

Record champions of the tournament Sevilla claimed their seventh Europa League title when they overcame a stubborn Roma side 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes in Budapest.

The defeat marked the first time Mourinho has lost a European cup final in his career, after being victorious in his previous five continental deciders.

The tactician was undeniably left devastated by the result, and even more frustrated with the referee on the night, Anthony Taylor.

Mourinho is believed to have been angered by several calls made by the Englishman, including one in which he not to give Sevilla's Erik Lamela a second yellow card for a cynical foul on a Roma player late in the game.

Lamela went on to score in the ensuing shootout, something that seemingly sent Mourinho into a serious rage as he went to confront the match official in the parking lot at the Puskas Arena after the final whistle.

"F***ing disgrace man, it's a f***ing disgrace," Mourinho fumed, before switching to swearing at the official in Italian, according to the Daily Mail.

"F*** off!"

Speaking in a post-match interview, the Portuguese tactician added: "Next year we won't be playing the Champions League and that's a good thing because we're not made for it.

"And let's hope that Taylor only officiates games in the Champions League and does the same bull**** there that he did tonight, and not in the Europa League."

"... It was an intense, vibrant game with a referee who seemed Spanish.

"It was yellow, yellow, yellow, all the time.

"The injustice is shown by the fact Lamela should've had a second yellow, he didn't, and he converted a penalty in the shootout."
