Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs has pleaded with the club's current crop to play with the aim of saving their jobs.

Amakhosi appear to be all but out of the running for CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup spots as they currently find themselves fighting for a place in the Top Eight.

They have also failed to end their trophy drought as they are about to finish another season without silverware.

On Sunday, the Glamour Boys visit fellow strugglers, in Richards Bay FC, at King Zwelithini Stadium for what is considered a six-pointer as both sides are desperate for maximum points, for different reasons.

The Natal Rich Boyz, for their part, are in a relegation fight with Cape Town Spurs.

"I believe Chiefs will win this one. Players will need to put their heads together because they are now playing for their future," Isaacs says, pouring his heart out to KickOff.

"They must now play for their dignity, they must win all their remaining games - simple as that. That's if they want to finish in the Top Eight because that's what they are playing for now.

"I will describe the Kaizer Chiefs season in one word - 'challenging'. Chiefs do have players, but they don't know how to play as a team. The coach is there to motivate, but if it falls on deaf ears, what can he do? If players are unable to score in one-versus-one situations, how is that the coach's fault?" he quizzes.

Isaacs, who also featured for Spurs when they were still known as Ajax Cape Town, also shared what he thinks the real problem is at Naturena.

"Judging by my experience, the Chiefs players are playing under stress, which is part and parcel of the game. You can take it as pressure or you can take it as responsibility, but at the moment they are playing under stress because of this pressure of winning a cup.

"They must enjoy football and turn things around, but it's difficult to enjoy football if you are playing for Chiefs. The pressure that comes with playing for that team is not easy to handle.

"Players are scared to play because they want to avoid making mistakes.

"The club needs to analyze where they need to improve and where they need to reinforce. Individual errors are what has been costing Chiefs.

"When Tsepo Masilela, Erick Mathoho, Siboniso Gaxa and Tefu Mashamaite were there, they didn't make so many mistakes at the back. They were solid."
