Mamelodi Sundowns have triggered yet another milestone as they go through the fun of completing their seventh consecutive season as DStv Premiership champions.

Sundowns have already been confirmed as champions a week ago after mutilating Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.

Of priority for The Brazilians now is closing off the season unbeaten and becoming the first ever ‘Invincibles’ in the history of the domestic championship.

They also have the target of surpassing the highest points tally of 71 in mind and need just nine from the 15 left to play for to achieve that.

Through the process of holding the fishing rod next to the ‘DStv Premiership dam’, Sundowns have a new find to play for when they welcome Royal AM to Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday (19h30).

Avoiding defeat in this match will stretch their longest unbeaten league run record to 50 games.

The Brazilians have not known the feeling of dropping all three points on the domestic scene since September 2, 2022, when they fell to city rivals SuperSport United.

Rulani Mokwena has also not lost a league match in 45 games since taking over as the sole head coach in October 2022.

If they get to 50 unbeaten with a win, then it will mean only Cape Town City have not contributed their share of at least three points to Sundowns this season.

City travel to Sundowns on the last day of the season.

downs

Kaizer Chiefs, TS Galaxy, Sekhukhune United, Cape Town Spurs, Richards Bay FC, Chippa United, AmaZulu FC, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport, Stellenbosch FC, Orlando Pirates, Polokwane City and Golden Arrows have all been beaten by Downs at least once this season.

Royal AM play consecutive against Sundowns in the next four days.
