Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena had nothing but praise for his charges after their convincing 3-0 victory over FC Nouadhibou on Sunday.
Sundowns, who clinched the African Football League before the recent FIFA break, saw goals from Peter Shalulile, Lucas Ribeiro Costa and substitute Gaston Sirino give them the points in the group.
Mokwena was more pleased with the supporters coming out to fill the stadium and lauded all concerned for the victory against the Mauritanian giants.

“Congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns FC, very, very good turnout. I’m happy to see the Sundowns supporters coming in their numbers and congratulations to them for an important win in the group stages and as you say it’s a very, very good performance at home,” Mokwena told SABC Sport.
“Very convincing against a very good team, very good, very aggressive. It was not easy and we spoke about it before and I know a lot of the people expected us to walk through this, but very difficult.
“So, congratulations to the entire club, congratulations to this group of players who just seems to keep going, keep going, keep going and I’m mean it’s not easy but congratulations to them,” he added.
There were a number of players that got a run out such as Rushine De Reuck, Neo Maema, Sphelele Mkhulise, Terrence Mashego and Thapelo Morena with the squad a bit stretched due to the recent international activities.
“Yeah, I’m very proud of them because normally when we rotate the level drops a bit but I’m very happy for Neo it was good to see him on the pitch, Rushine excellent I think zero mistakes, Mosa did exceptionally well.
“Mkhulise was good in a different role today, deeper to help us play a bit and it’s good to see Peter, Lucas and Thapelo also on the pitch. They helped us in the final third especially with possibilities to create and many things even when out of possession but Terrence also was good, stable and gave a good account of himself
“So, very happy with the players that got an opportunity to play they did exceptionally well and even the substitutes they were very good and I’m very proud of them, congratulations to the entire team and the technical team too,” Mokwena said.
