Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says they need points more than any other side in the DStv Premiership after going down 1-0 against Stellenbosch.

Chiefs suffered their eighth defeat of the season after they could not recover from a first-half goal by Devon Titus.

Johnson has admitted that they had a worse performance than on Saturday in a goalless draw against Cape Town City.

"Ja for sure (disappointed), I thought the performance we put on tonight was not even half the performance put on Saturday and ja, what can I say? We have to go back, try again, put different players on the pitch and let's see what happens," Johnson told SuperSport TV.

"But in saying that, ja, we just didn't get it right tonight. Not happy with the performance from a lot of players but we have to fix them up, we have to come back.

"We have now a game on Saturday against Chippa, we have to try our best. We need the points. We need the points more than any other team in the PSL at this present moment. But we need to box clever and we need to play the ball better," he said.

The former SuperSport United coach continued and explained what they need to do better going forward.

"I think the most important attribute is that the players need to be better technically, in a lot of moments they have to play, you know we have to pass the ball better," he said.

"I don't think there's a time where we pass the ball better, we're not looking like we can pass the ball better. When we go 1-0 down, yes we have 45 minutes to come back, be the confident that you are, the Kaizer Chiefs that you are and play the proper ball, don't just kick the ball and that for me was very disturbing from my players."

The former Al Ahly coach also admitted that they could not even get it right when they tried to play crosses into the box.

"When you make one, two, three, four passes something happens, maybe in some moments when we got into the box we could have held it a little bit better in order to create something for yourself," Johnson went on.

"But the crosses that were coming were not good enough and the crosses to who was also not good enough, we were not getting into the box often enough especially in the first-half, second-half as well. But I think we had moments to get in and at least get a goal (but) we were not able to get that," he added.
