Ten-man Cape Town Spurs and SuperSport United played to a goalless draw in the DStv Premiership on Friday evening.

Matsatsantsa recalled Bilal Baloyi, Selaelo Rasebotja, Shandre Campbell and Lucky Muthewi, whereas the Urban Warriors remained unchanged from the win at Royal AM.

Campbell showed his presence within minutes following the start where he came in on the right and cut inside to stung the gloves of a sprawling Neil Boshoff.

The bottom-placed boys were put on the back-foot for the rest of the match after Gadiel Kamagi received his marching orders for a dangerous foul in an advanced position on Campbell.

Not soon after, a substitution were made by the Cape boys in a quest to stabilise matters whereby hard-running centre-back Rushwin Dortley was send on for Asanele Velayati.

The visitors were alive late on and actually enjoyed the bulk of the chances as a low rasping free-kick from Liam Bern forced Ricardo Goss to dive down and parried.

SuperSport showed a double change after halftime in Thabang Mahlangu for Muthewi and withdrew Gape Moralo to see Grant Margeman take the field.

Rasebotja should’ve broken the deadlock minutes in through a first-time effort following a cross by Campbell, but he launched a relatively tame effort at Boshoff.

Matsatsantsa continued to push though during the half-way quarter of the encounter, but still battled to find a breakthrough as the Urban Warriors held a tight line.

The Urban Warriors were inches away from the deadlock themselves in the last 20 minutes through a powerful free-kick from substitute Ashley Cupido, but Goss was well alert.

Spurs remained resolute late on as United searched for the winner and made a goal-line clearance to clear Siphesihle Ndlovu’s first-time attempt.

The points were shared though after neither side were able to get the winner and continued the visitors’ fight against relegation with United in touching distance of a top-five spot.
