Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba has sent a message to rivals Orlando Pirates ahead of the two Soweto giants meeting on Saturday.

Chiefs got back to winning form with a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Saturday, thanks to an early first-half screamer from academy graduate Duba.

The encounter was only a third appearance of the season for the speedy attacker and it would be his first goal in a Kaizer Chiefs first-team shirt.

Duba was later stretched off and head coach Cavin Johnson revealed that the striker had 'hurt his ankle'.

However, Speaking to SuperSportTV after the game, Duba insisted that the injury was a light one and sent a message to the Buccaneers.

"It’s nothing to worry about (the injury). I think the physios will do something [about it] but I’ll be ready for the derby," Duba said.

"They (pirates) should be ready for me. I’m coming,"

The 19-year-old’s goal was the first for Amakhosi in the 2024 calendar year and provided a much-needed win as pressure and scrutiny intensified on the side that had failed to win any of their last three matches.

"I’ve been working very hard, since from the mini preseason (AFCON break), I’ve been working hard to try and get into the starting line-up," Duba said.

"Coming to this game They did tell me that if I believe in myself I will score a goal because I’ve been working hard since from training.

"I watched the Manchester City derby, Phil Foden came in a scored a goal (similar to mine). Just put it in the [top] corner, he will never reach it."
